About the event

Te Paewai o Te Rangi is a 5 day scholarship programme for Māori students who are in their final year of study at a NZ secondary school/wharekura living outside the Wellington Region.

The purpose of this programme is for them to experience being a student here at Victoria University as well as living in Wellington City. Throughout the week students will attend different workshops with key staff on campus, explore halls of residence, connect with on-campus support, and explore all the cool things you can do in Wellington (and they’ll get to attend Open Day).

Criteria:

  • Be of Māori descent.
  • Be in Year 13 at a NZ secondary school or wharekura based outside the Wellington Region (Porirua, Wellington CBD, Hutt Valley won't be considered).
  • Be available to travel to Wellington and stay on the given dates (18th-22nd August) for the entire programme.
  • Be on track to achieving university entrance
